Catarino Cavazos Center
for Hispanic Youth and Families
Mission: Helping Hispanic/Latino youth who have been adjudicated, learn skills and behaviors to establish healthy relationships and live productive lives as part of their families and communities.
The program formerly known as Street Vision was re-dedicated in August, 2007 as the Catarino Cavazos Center for Hispanic Youth and Families, in honor of its founder who passed away suddenly in 2006.
The Cavazos Center ended the fiscal year with an average utilization of 99.7%, a new all time record for that program and likely one of the highest utilization rates in the state.
The Center continues to increase successful outcomes, reduce runaway rates dramatically, increase fidelity to evidence-based practices and forge new community partnerships with employers for the youth (such as Muchas Gracias, Safeway, and Green Acres Landscaping).
