Family Finders
Family Finders seeks to reconnect youth in foster care with their lost or absent healthy family members who will remain a lifelong support
Many youth age out of foster care with no knowledge of their roots, biological families or histories. The goal of Family Finders is to provide youth with lasting connections with their healthy relatives. Our desired outcome is that the youth develop stable, permanent and supportive family connections.
Family Finders assists youth to locate healthy family members who will hopefully enter and stay in their life, teach them their family history and traditions, help them come to an understanding of family dynamics and, ultimately, remain a lifelong support for the youth.
The Family Finders process includes interviews, internet searches, phone calls, letters and coordination with DHS of meetings between the youth and family members.
