Minimum requirements

  1. Current license as a Registered Nurse in the state of Oregon
  2. Certificate for the RN Delegation self-test located at http://www.oregon.gov/OSBN/index.shtml

  3. Ability to obtain a CPR and First Aid Card within 30 days of hire
  4. Valid driver’s license with a driving record that permits coverage under the agency’s corporate auto liability policy, personal automobile liability insurance, and personal transportation
  5. Two years experience in the field of developmental disabilities desired

Duties

The RN is responsible for planning, supervision, and direct implementation of medical services for people with developmental disabilities.

Minimum Job Dutes:

  1. Monitors the health care needs of clients with nurse/patient relationships.
  2. Monitors documentation and assures a minimum of one time per illness follow-up note in medical notes.
  3. Documents, reviews, and reports any medical needs or errors to the House Manager and Director of Nursing.
  4. Remains available to staff for client medical advise for clients who have nurse/patient relationships, Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
  5. Provides nursing care, such as administering medications or g-tube feedings, as requested by Director of Nursing.
  6. Presents in-service trainings to staff as needed.
  7. Ensures documentation of training and provision of written instructions regarding delegation of nursing procedures to unlicensed persons.
  8. Attends all nursing staff meetings and house staff meetings with approval of Director of Nursing.
  9. Calls Dr's and dentists to make appointments or discuss medical concerns as needed.
  10. Accompanies staff to client's doctor appointments as needed.
  11. Maintains and reviews entries in medical notes every 2 weeks.
  12. Maintains a nurse/patient relationship with clients who have been identified by the ISP team.
  13. Maintains an annual nursing assessment. Maintains a nursing care plan that must be updated no less than every 60 days.
  14. Cooperates in all aspects of the CCS health and safety program to include
    (a.) Wearing required personal protective equipment (PPE);
    ( (b) Attends agency health and safety training sessions as required;
    ( (c) Reviews and practices recommended health and safety procedures;
    ( (d.) Reports hazardous conditions or other safety and health concerns to the supervisor by the end of the shift on which they are observed.
  15. Completes 12 hours of training per year as required by Catholic Community Services.
  16. Performs other work as directed by Director of Nursing Services.
  17. Reviews client medication administration records and completes medication error report to be turned in monthly as directed by the Director of Nursing.
  18. Consults with the pharmacy on medication management.
  19. Consults with physical therapy, occupational therapy speech therapy, orthotics, dietician and other therapies as needed.
  20. To ensure the medical safety of the clients with nurse/patient relationships.
  21. Responsible for the instruction and mentoring of staff medication administration and documentation.

This position requires a pre-employment physical, drug test, and TB test.
