Minimum requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  1. Bi-lingual Spanish/English preferred.
  2. An associate’s degree in a social or behavioral science or an equivalent combination of experience and training. BA/BS in social science field preferred.
  3. Effective communication skills, to include basic computer skills and e-mail usage.
  4. Provide an automobile as a condition of employment; valid driver’s license with a driving record that permits coverage under the agency’s corporate auto liability policy; and personal automobile liability insurance.
  5. Experience in an early childhood setting, as well as knowledge of family dynamics, parent education, and home visiting preferred.
  6. Experience working with teens and at-risk population preferred.

Certification/Licensing:

  1. OCCF sponsored Home visitor training.

DutiesThe Fostering Hope Home Visitor (FHHV) reports to the Fostering Hope Supervisor or Director and is responsible to assist parents with children prenatal to 24 months, establishing a positive, safe home environment that promotes healthy growth and development in children. The FHHV supports positive parent-child relationships by encouraging positive parent interactions, providing developmentally appropriate child development information and screenings, and research-based parenting information that promotes literacy utilizing a strengths-based approach. The FHHV provides referrals and support to access community resources such as medical and social services, teaches problem-solving skills, and empowers families to pursue goals that build safe, healthy, and nurturing families.

Minimum Job Duties:

  1. Complete Core Home Visiting training and local orientation to Fostering Hope within 180 days of hire or prior to direct work with families.
  2. Complete training and be able to demonstrate working knowledge in the following topics: infant care, child health and safety, maternal and family health, infant and child development including language and literacy, role of culture in parenting, and supporting the parent-child relationship within 180 days of hire.
  3. Complete training in the Assessment tool within 180 days of hire.
  4. Complete an Assessment on all new families within 21 days of the first home visit.
  5. Conduct regularly scheduled home visits to parents, establishing and maintaining a trusting relationship, maintaining a home visit completion rate of at least 75%.
  6. Complete all paperwork, case notes, surveys, and other screenings in a timely manner.
  7. Meet with supervisor weekly to evaluate family status, discuss IFSPs, develop case plans and discuss strategies for improving outcomes.
  8. Attend agency staff meetings, in-services, and other required trainings to uphold policies and procedures of Fostering Hope and CCS.
  9. Facilitate neighborhood based parenting groups like Make Parenting a Pleasure.
  10. Outreach and engage new families into the Fostering Hope Program.
  11. Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor.
